 Since 2008 The Great Arizona Puppet Theater has been partnering with Kenilworth Elementary School. Over the course of 3-4 weeks and many weeks of pre-planning culminating in a public performance of the kids' work at the theater for the school, their friends, and family. The Imagine This Project works with all students in Grades 2-8. Approximately 600 Kenilworth students annually are positively impacted by their work in developing a story, the chosen stories are then adapted into 14 shows. These shows are then created by the Kenilworth Peer afterschool program and GAPT professional puppeteers.
Choose A Level of Support Sponsor The Printing of the Books: $2500 Each year, we create a physical book that features each winning show, as well as some behind-the-scenes fun. Each of the authors receives a copy--and if you donate, you'll receive a copy, too! Sponsor The Authors' Party: $2500 The week of the performances, all of the winners gather at the Theater for crafts, pizza, cake, and celebration! Your contribution will help to pay for set-up and food & drinks. Sponsor A Story: $500 (Most Popular) By funding a child's story, you will be helping to pay for production materials, preparation time, and our ability to perform the show. Your name/organization will also be listed right next to the show you helped bring to life in our souvenir book! Sponsor A Workshop: $250 We partner with Kenilworth's After School PEER program to host workshops, where students can craft puppets for the Imagine This shows. This lets the kids get involved in the production process, while having fun and getting creative! Sponsor A Gift Bag: $25 At the Authors' Party, we give each winner a gift bag, including a special puppet unique to them and their show. One gift bag equals one prize! |

What is Imagine This?
Imagine This is an annual partnership between GAPT and Kenilworth Elementary. It started in 2008; this year, we will be bringing it back for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. This unique production takes 14 stories written by students from Grades 2-8, and adapts them into original puppet shows. The entire school, along with the students' families, get to attend the performances. There is also a special Authors' Party at the end with prizes, activities, and pizza!
Kenilworth is a historic Title One school that has served the community for over a century. With a team of highly qualified educators, they put great care into helping each student to Think and Learn. They support underserved families within the community, including bilingual students and parents.
By helping to support Imagine This, not only are you encouraging creativity and the arts, you are also helping children to practice crucial literary standards. Imagine This provides a magical opportunity for students to be celebrated for their writing.
